Area information
The Schlachtensee is the southernmost lake of the large chain of lakes in the Grunewald forest. A 5.5-kilometre trail leads around the lake and invites you to go hiking, walking or jogging.
During warmer times of the year, the lake is a popular hangout for locals and tourists alike and provides the perfect spot for cooling down during hot summer days. Several lawns for sunbathing can be reached by S-Bahn, and the northeast part of the lake invites you to go for picnics.
Rowing boats are available for hire on the eastern banks, where you also find a historical guesthouse with beer garden. Keen anglers will also get their money's worth here.
